Tagging is a significant feature of social bookmarking systems. Tagging enables users to organize their bookmarks so that information is easily accessible and easier to retrieve as well as allowing users to develop shared vocabularies.  

Features of Diigo include:

3. Screenshots
4. Searching
5. Collaborating and using groups
6. Bibliography
7. Sharing

More bookmarking examples are: Delicious, Stumbleupon, Digg, Reddit, Citeulike, Folkd and Diigo. The most famous probably being Reddit which has user generated news links. A free version is onlywire.com, which supports 20 websites

Business Usage:

• Search engine optimisation - to increase site traffic. 5 or more is good
• Increase visibility to search engines
• Increase popularity among visitors
• Store & share information

Tag Clouds are a  visual way of representing the occurrence of words, e.g. Wordle, also called a Razored List. The class also generated a word cloud using PollEe on the sites we use for social bookmarking. Shane also mentioned a book called ‘The Wisdom of Clouds’ by James Surowiecki.
